Joshua
Paul Young was born in Columbia, South Carolina. Josh and his parents,
Judith and Russell, moved to Wallingford, Pennsylvania when Josh was only
two years old. That same year sister Dena was born, and four years after
that came brother Douglas.
Josh attended both The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr as well as Strath Haven
High School. At the age of twelve, Josh theatrical training began at the
Media Theatre, and he began studying voice at the Voice Foundation of
Philadelphia. He continued to train and perform at Upper Darby Summer
Stage and Young People's Theatre Workshop (YPTW) at The Player's Club
of Swathmore. Towards the end of Josh's high school career, he gained
acceptance to the prestigious Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts
in Voice in Drama. Upon graduation from The Governor's School, Josh attended
the summer at Ithica College for Musical Theatre. The following fall,
Josh began his college career at Syracuse University's Department of Drama.
Josh graduated in May of 2003 with a BFA in Musical Theatre.
After
performing extensively at regional theatres and on tour with Les Misérables,
Josh has settled down in NYC. In his first 5 months in the city Josh has
been involved in 4 off-Broadway workshops, shows in each year of the New
York Musical Theatre Festival, 3 recordings, and 3 star-studded benefit
concerts.
Most
recently Josh was seen as "Tony" in Joey McNeely's
Internationally acclaimed Tour of West Side Story.
